Fans of all things New York and Gossip Girl will be thrilled to hear that they’ll be able to refuel at Sarabeth’s on their next venture to Mall of the Emirates.

The US eatery, which already has a branch in City Walk, is now open for business in the shopping mall in Al Barsha and Time Out Dubai’s been along to check it out. The outlet has a modern look, with large brass features, marble accents and patterned tiles.

The new bakery and café is set on the first level of the mall and promises the “hospitable nature of New York City” and an extensive menu of signature dishes and desserts.

The famous bakery chain was founded by Sarabeth Levine in 1981 in New York, with the production of her family’s 200-year-old recipe for orange apricot marmalade. She set up a tiny bakery-kitchen selling preserves and treats, and today she has a 15,000 sq ft jam factory as well as a bakery, café and shop in Manhattan, plus 20 branches of the chain around the world.

The new Mall of the Emirates spot is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner there’s a huge choice of classic American dishes with a “playful twist”, so says the team behind it. And there’s even a special vegan menu for plant-based diners.

Breakfast dishes include chia pudding parfait, morning fruit bowl, French toast, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, smokes salmon with scrambled eggs on a multigrain bagel and a three-cheese frittata.

Items on the lunch and dinner menu include salads, pastas, sandwiches, burgers and more, with signature dishes including crispy tempura calamari, tomato soup, fried chicken and waffle sandwich, halloumi and avocado sandwich and truffle scented mushroom risotto.

Dig into valhrona chocolate fondant, agave and berry panna cotta and New York cheesecake for dessert. The outlet will also be serving afternoon tea.
