Ministry of Energy Laboratories Awarded ISO 17025 Accreditation, Reinforcing Jordan’s Leadership in Specialized Testing

The Laboratories Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has been awarded the prestigious ISO/IEC 17025:2017 international accreditation, which certifies the technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The certification was granted by the Accreditation and Standardization Unit at the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO).

This accreditation covers a wide range of physical, mechanical, chemical, and geochemical tests on aggregates, geological rocks, and oil shale, after fulfilling all international standard requirements in accordance with conformity assessment procedures.

The certificate was presented during an official ceremony under the patronage of Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, and in the presence of Eng. Lana Al-Marashdeh, Director of the Accreditation Unit at JSMO; Eng. Maysoon Al-Khaza’i, Director of the Laboratories Directorate; along with senior staff and directors from the Geology and Mining Directorate and the Petroleum and Oil Shale Directorate.

A Strategic Milestone for National Laboratories
Eng. Al-Azzam described the achievement as a significant milestone that reflects the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. She emphasized that the accreditation enhances the credibility of public laboratories, positioning them as reliable partners for international investors in Jordan’s mineral sector, while ensuring sustainable operational excellence.

She extended her appreciation to the Laboratories Directorate and its staff, urging them to continue building on this success.

International Recognition and Technical Excellence
Speaking at the event, Eng. Al-Marashdeh stated that the quality system implemented by the Ministry’s laboratories is the result of years of dedicated effort. She highlighted that receiving this accreditation for the third consecutive time is evidence of the Directorate’s commitment to international standards and technical excellence.

She added that ISO/IEC 17025 is the most recognized standard globally for testing laboratories, surpassing ISO 9001 in terms of technical requirements. Reports issued under this certification bear an internationally recognized accreditation mark, providing global credibility to the Ministry’s test results.

Supporting Natural Resource Exploration with Scientific Integrity
Eng. Maysoon Al-Khaza’i, Director of the Laboratories Directorate, emphasized that this achievement reflects the Ministry’s dedication to upgrading laboratory infrastructure and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of its test results. She praised the efforts of the quality team and all laboratory staff.

She noted that this certification confirms the advanced level of technical capability reached by the Ministry’s laboratories and their critical role in supporting exploration and evaluation of natural resources. It also serves as a motivation to expand laboratory services in line with best international practices.
