President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Eng. Fathi Jaghbir, has called for enhanced cooperation between the government and the industrial sector to conduct specialized feasibility studies on export opportunities for Jordanian products to penetrate European markets, especially Germany, one of the largest economies in the European Union.
Speaking at the Arab-German Economic Forum held in Berlin, Jaghbir highlighted that around 20% of Jordan’s imports originate from EU markets, reaching a value of JD 2.861 billion in 2024, while Jordanian exports to the EU totaled only JD 427 million, reflecting a significant trade imbalance in favor of Europe.
Despite the existence of a partnership agreement between Jordan and the European Union, Jaghbir noted that the agreement has not yet translated into a substantial increase in Jordanian exports. He stressed the need to identify and address logistical, legislative, and marketing barriers that are limiting Jordan’s export potential.
Strategic Industrial Outreach to Europe
Jaghbir emphasized that the Chambers of Industry are actively working to open new export channels by participating in international trade fairs, organizing industrial delegations to key European markets, and facilitating B2B meetings between Jordanian manufacturers and major European buyers.
As part of his visit to Berlin, Jaghbir toured several major commercial centers to assess the presence of Jordanian products and met with retail executives to encourage increased inclusion of Jordanian industrial goods on their shelves.
He affirmed that Jordanian industries have witnessed remarkable growth and innovation in recent years, enabling them to gain strong footholds in global markets, particularly in the United States. He believes that with the right strategies and institutional support, this success can be replicated in European markets.
