HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level delegation from the National Environment Tribunal of the Kenyan National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), headed by HE Kariuki Mugwe, Consul General of Kenya in Dubai. This is one a series of meetings DEWA conducts to consolidate cooperation and collaboration with all diplomatic and consular missions in the UAE.
The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence, and Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources.
The MD & CEO welcomed Mugwe and presented DEWA’s projects, initiatives, and plans to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DEWA is working on enhancing the efficiency of the energy sector and rationalise the use of natural resources to promote sustainable development in the Emirate.
Al Tayer explained that DEWA has a clear vision, represented by the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to secure its energy supply by diversifying the energy mix to provide 75% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2050. DEWA launched several projects to achieve this objective including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will have a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030.
Al Tayer said that DEWA continuously works to further upgrade its services and form a distinctive model to meet Dubai’s development requirements. DEWA also provides electricity and water services, in accordance with the highest international standards of availability, reliability, and efficiency, to achieve the happiness of all customers and stakeholders.
The Kenyan Consul General finished by thanking Al Tayer for his warm welcome and commended DEWA’s efforts to promote sustainable development in the Emirate.
