Carrera has launched a special Dubai edition of sunglasses based on the iconic pair worn by His Excellency Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – the founding father of the UAE.
The design pays tribute to the iconic style of Sheikh Zayed, as shown by the collection of his personal effects in a permanent exhibition at the Etihad Museum.
A collaboration between Carrera and brand Dubai, the design of the limited edition sunglasses is inspired by elements of Emirati style that has evolved over several decades.

Sheikh Zayed was often seen sporting a pair of iconic Carrera Champion aviator sunglasses. The new collection looks to match the glasses’ classic charm, with a new modern twist.
Carrera was founded back in 1956, by Austrian Wilhelm Anger. Anger was inspired by the Carrera Panamericana auto race, which is where the brand first got its name.
In 1964, Anger developed ‘Optyl’ material which made its sunglasses fit better, as well as protected them against bumps and bangs. The new material was a hit, and today everyone from sports stars to actors sport its iconic shades.
