The Women’s Committee at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) inaugurated its first activities for 2019 by organising field visits to DEWA’s various branches. The committee members met with female employees at DEWA’s Head Office, the Sustainable Building in Al Quoz, and DEWA’s buildings in Al Hudaiba, Jebel Ali, and Warsan. The Committee organised brainstorming sessions on various topics, including sustainability, empowerment, society, the National Identity, and Year of Tolerance, to hear their feedback, suggestions, and aspirations for the activities that can be implemented throughout 2019 as well as identify their needs and discuss with them challenges they may face in the work environment.

Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee, emphasised the committee’s commitment to organising field visits and brainstorming sessions to promote direct and effective communications with stakeholders, inspired by the words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that, “True leaders do not isolate themselves behind closed doors… Reality is best experienced in the field.”

“These words by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum are our biggest motivation at the Women’s Committee to directly communicate with female employees and involve female staff in all grades and career paths, whether technical or administrative, in shaping the committee’s objectives. This also supports DEWA’s strategy to empower female employees and strengthen their role in planning various activities and events that provide a positive and happy work environment that embrace all ideas and suggestions,” said Al Jokar.

Al Jokar recently formed the Women’s Committee for 2019. Committee members from DEWA’s various divisions include Aisha Al Asem, Mahrah Al Marri, Amal Koshak, Hend Al Tamimi, Amal Al Hammadi, Fatma Al Alili, Maryam Salmin, Aisha Haddadi, Noora Alshehhi, Alia Al Suwaidi, and Fatima Al Suwaidi.
