The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) holds a course on statistical report writing and preparation using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software at the Organization’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar, from the 8th till the 11th of November, 2016.
This workshop targets staff working in industrial and economic statistics, statistical authorities, statistical customs departments, financial companies and institutions, investment and contracting companies, in addition to individuals working in data processing and analysis, banks, survey centres and research and development centres.
The course includes several themes, notably “the use of statistical sampling” aiming at introducing various means of statistical sampling and statistical inference based on statistical sampling. In addition to that, the training focuses on providing trainees with skills to design, execute and analyse studies that require sampling in data collection by studying several practical cases in a variety of fields.
The key themes of this program are: the need and importance of statistical sampling, some important aspects relating to planning, executing and analysing sampling surveys, identifying data collection and development tools, random sampling methods and statistical sampling between theoretical and practical.
As to the “multiple variables analysis” program, it aims to explain statistical methods used to analyse multiple variables through case studies in various fields, introducing main ideas that are at the foundation of various statistical methods in a simple fashion and determining fields of application, hypotheses and limitations of each method. Furthermore, the most important objective is to develop the skills of participants to use SPSS to analyse multiple variables.
Moreover, the “statistical data analysis” program aims at highlighting the importance of the science of statistics and its role in carrying out researches to study problems in various fields and provide trainees with the skills to design and execute studies that require sampling in various statistical sampling methods. It also aims at explaining means of statistical inference based on statistical samples like hypotheses, analysis of simple and multiple regression, and develop participants’ skills in the use of statistical package to analyse statistical data.
As for the “statistical researches and studies writing and preparation” program, its objective is to introduce basics of research reports such as: having a clear research objective, research methodology, scientific methods used in researches, research results and fields of application. It also aims at introducing various methods used in analysing statistical data. Participants will also get to know basic concepts and methods that they need before actively partaking in carrying out and writing various researches and studies. This includes understanding statistical variables, scientific research ethics, sampling means and methods, measurement tools and making sure the measurement tool is stable and valid. At the end of the training, participants are expected to acquire the skills necessary to prepare and design researches by reading, analysing and assessing various types of published studies to determine their pros and cons and offer recommendations to increase their efficiency.
