Travellers passing through Dubai International Airport could do a bit of shopping for less during the first two days of November.
The airport’s retailer, Dubai Duty Free, confirmed on Thursday that it will be slashing prices for all arriving and departing travellers by 20 per cent on November 1 and 2 to mark the Diwali festival.

The discount will apply to a range of products, including perfumes, cosmetics, watches, liquor, confectionery, delicatessen and household goods.
The festival of lights, one of the most important special occasions for Indians, will be celebrated next month.
The Asian country is the biggest source of tourist traffic for Dubai, accounting for one million visitors during the first six months of 2018, up three per cent from a year earlier.

“Our Indian customers are very important to us and Diwali is the most significant festival for Indians to celebrate all over the world. It is a great opportunity for us to join in the celebrations and to mark this special occasion,” said Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free.
The Diwali discount can also be availed of by shoppers online by pre-ordering or upon collection at the time of payment at Dubai Duty Free shops on the same dates.
During the first half of the year, the airport retailer saw its sales increased by 10 per cent. From January to June, flyers splurged at least Dh534 million on perfumes and another Dh553 million on beverages.
On average, travellers spend Dh20 million on duty-free goods at the airport.
