Smartphone enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice at the Gitex Shopper 2018 exhibition, as retailers unveiled a number of bundle deals that promise the ultimate experience.
“This edition, it’s clearly all about smartphones,” said Atul Joshi, head of distribution and official spokesperson for Jumbo Electronics, at the exhibition. “There has been a lot of excitement regarding the new Apple, Samsung, and Huawei launches in particular. We can safely say that this is going to be one of our best-selling categories.”
He added that the shoppers looking for a new smartphone would be spoiled for choice. “The choices in the smartphone segment are fairly large, and customers will choose what suits them best at the end of the day. There are die-hard Apple fans and die-hard Samsung fans, so it is always interesting to see what will be the hottest selling brand. The great thing about the smartphone segment is that you can always expect to see new and improved features.”
Speaking about the types of features that shoppers were looking for when buying smartphones today, Joshi highlighted camera quality and memory space. “At the end of the day, we are clicking more pictures than we have ever done. In addition, you have to remember that you are storing all these pictures and videos – they are precious memories. This is one of the main reasons that smartphone manufacturers are focusing on larger memory. The world today is more alive than ever, and people want to capture it on their phones.”
Of course, not everyone looking to buy a smartphone is willing to dig that deep into their wallets. Some shoppers are more in favour of a hardy phone with certain features at affordable prices. This is where XTOUCH comes in, said Sandeep Agrawal, the brand’s executive director.
