Under patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum DEWA celebrates marriages of 62 staff at 10th mass wedding

438 staff have married with Anwar Dubai since 2007

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) held its 10th mass wedding, Anwar Dubai, under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance of the UAE and President of DEWA, as part of its corporate strategy and commitment to the happiness of its employees. The wedding took place in a joyful and festive atmosphere at Zaabeel Park for 62 of its employees. Since 2007, 438 staff have married through Anwar Dubai.
His Highness was welcomed by HE Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO, Board Members, Directors and VIPs.
The ceremony was attended by HE Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, HE Saeed Al Kindi, and HE Mohammed Khalifa Al Habtoor. Hilal Khalfan Bin Dhaher, Abdullah Mohammed Al Hashemi, and Nabil Arif, Members of the Board of DEWA, were also present. HE Ahmad Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), HE Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Dubai Holding, Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power, Abdullah Al Mana, General Manager of Etisalat in Dubai, Qadhi Al Murooshid, Essa Al Maidoor, and senior officials and staff from DEWA, and families of the brides and grooms also attended.
Al Tayer thanked HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his presence and patronage of the 10th mass wedding for DEWA employees. The ceremony is called Anwar Dubai, which reflects the leadership’s commitment to happiness and positivity as a way of life, which is the primary goal of government in the UAE. The well-being of citizens is a primary objective within the policies and strategic plans, of the UAE Centennial Plan2071, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. UAE 2071 aims to build the UAE of the future and equip the nation for future generations by investing primarily in its youth, and working to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world as well as the most advanced and happy.
“The mass wedding stems from a vision to enhance ways to serve our youth by providing all forms of support to those wishing to marry and to reducing the burdens and costs of weddings. As the land of giving, the contribution of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, adds to the development of a new life for the young men and women of the country, and contributes to the happiness and sustainability of our people,” said Al Tayer.
“We are committed to providing all possible community services to our employees and all members of society. This accords with DEWA’s strategy to consolidate the values of social responsibility through a constant focus on the concepts of giving, solidarity, harmony, and interaction with all cultural and social frameworks and various events. DEWA has developed a strategy to nurture its employees and achieve their psychological and familial stability, so they can be more productive and improve performance and efficiency in their work. This will in turn benefit to society as a whole,” added Al Tayer.
“Over the last ten years, the mass wedding ceremony has contributed to the completion of marriage ceremonies for UAE National staff, which has strengthened the institutional approach of DEWA to support Emirati youth and the values of national identity, enhancing the loyalty of employees, and establishing a secure future for them and for generations to come,” concluded Al Tayer.
Al Tayer congratulated the brides and grooms and wished them happiness, asking God to help them fulfil their goals and aspirations for a healthy and stable family life.
“We continue our efforts to support social, economic and environmental growth in Dubai through our leading community development and sustainability initiatives. We are also implementing our strategy with humanitarian and charitable initiatives as part of our leading system to promote community service, solidarity, and cohesion amongst all our members, and to achieve people’s happiness. Our annual strategic plan includes several programmes to support humanitarian and charitable initiatives, locally, regionally, and globally,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications and Chairperson of the Women’s Committee at DEWA.
The ceremony included performances and cultural events, including Al Ayala, Al Harbia, and a musical operetta by Emirati poet Ali Al Khawar, performed by Mohammed Al Menhali. The ceremony was presented by Monzer Al Muzaki, with a poetry recital by the Qatari Cub Nasser Al Bakheet.
