In its commitment to ensuring road safety while managing its objectives, Total Jordan has organized a theoretical and practical training course for stakeholders and selected staff members. The course was delivered by a French top-level institute “APTH” (Association Professionnelle pour le transport des Hydrocarbures),during 6 days, held at The Royal Automotive Club.
Several staff members from private and Governmental entities were invited by Total Jordan to attendthe training, which was instructed by Mr. JP Tresorier, a French expert from APTH, specialized in training drivers’ trainers. It is worth noting that APTH is identified as acertified organization for Training and Consultancy about Transportation Safety in France.
The training integrated threeattendees of Total Jordan Transporters, threeof Total Jordan’s staff, two from Jordan’s Traffic Police Institute, three from Royal Automotive Club, one from Manaseer, and one from Jordan Petroleum Product Marketing Company (JPPMC).The course’s key objectives were to guarantee the safe transportation of hydrocarbons, promote defensive driving techniques, as well as minimize the risk of traffic accidents.
Mr. Philippe Cabus, Managing Director of Total Jordan, commented on the importance of the training course saying that “we are pleased to organize a training that places considerable focus on road safety, and contributes in protecting the community and the environment.”
Mr. Cabus added:“this is an extensive program that we hope the attendees gained tremendous benefit from. We will diligently implement what we have learned in transmitting it to drivers, who are the main actors in road safety. Our cooperation in promoting this important training doesn’t have boundaries and we look forward to working with all concerned. We thank all participants especially The Traffic Police Institute, and The Royal Automotive Club for their active role for the success of this mission”.
The training course was 60 percent based on theoretical learning and 40 percent on practical exercises, itlectured a number of subjects during the six days. Subjects include general road safety, highway codes and legislation, defensive driving techniques, prevention of road accidents, the chemistry of fire and fire fighting, as well as the basic mechanics of heavy vehicles and vehicles control.
