The initiative, which is organised by the Community Development Authority (CDA)’s Youth Council for the second consecutive year, distributes Suhoor meals to workers during the holy month of Ramadan. 22 volunteers from DEWA and Suqia distributed the Suhoor meals. Suqia also contributed to the campaign by providing 48,000 Mai Dubai water cups.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia, commended the initiative launched by the CDA’s Youth Council, noting that it proves that Emirati youth are following the path of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundations of humanitarian work in the UAE.

“In the month of giving, we recall the noble values and principles that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has instilled in the hearts of the citizens and residents of the UAE. We are committed to strengthening social responsibility, consolidating volunteering among staff, and encouraging them to participate in various community and charity initiatives and programmes. This is part of our efforts to institutionalise volunteer work and develop an integrated social work system,” added Al Tayer.

“We are really delighted with the tremendous support that ‘Their Suhoor on Us’ received from both the public and private sectors. This proves that giving is an essential part of our culture and an approach drawn for us by our founding fathers, especially the late Sheikh Zayed, who have distinguished Emirati society,” said HE Ahmed Julfar, Director General of CDA.

“Each contribution has provided additional support to the success of the initiative, which has achieved a set of goals. These include empowering youth, spreading the volunteerism culture, and promoting cohesion among different parts of society. This success makes us at CDA, responsible for providing similar programmes and initiatives that emerge from the needs of the community and make it available to those wishing to contribute to the development and happiness of its members,” added Julfar.

Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Suqia, noted that Suqia’s participation in the initiative is part of its efforts to encourage a culture of volunteerism and humanitarian work among employees and the youth. He added that Suqia is collaborating with DEWA in the 100 Volunteers initiative, to volunteer in various CSR initiatives during the Year of Zayed. These include Ramadan campaigns to distribute water to mosques and Iftar tents, as well as voluntary initiatives outside the UAE, organised in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment.
