The Sharjah Tatweer Forum (STF) has announced that the fourth batch of participants under the Sharjah Leadership Program (SLP) will go to the United Kingdom (UK) in April of this year to embark on a life-changing leadership development journey during a 10-day leadership tour organized in collaboration with the University of Cambridge.

From April 9 to 19, 2017, 30 young SLP leaders will actively participate in key sessions focusing on global leadership and innovation. These include the latest best practices; value-added business models; how to drive vision and lead high-performing teams; various ways to influence a turbulent environment; leadership of change; and continuous personal development.

Renowned guest speakers from the University of Cambridge and key innovation centres will lead the trip’s main discussions. The delegation will be led by STF representatives Jassem Albloushi and Reem bin Karam, members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators.

Albloushi said: “The upcoming UK forum is an important step that will bring us closer to our ultimate goal of creating the country’s leaders and innovators of tomorrow. This is in line with the STF’s mission to enhance the capabilities of our youth in line with the demands of modern times and in the midst of the UAE’s fast-paced adoption of a knowledge- and innovation-driven economic framework. Our partnership with the University of Cambridge comes at an opportune time when there is a global need for forward-looking and innovative leaders, and the forum is one of the best means to effectively and efficiently achieve this end.”

Bin Karam added: “We are excited about the learning opportunities that the UK forum will bring to our 30 young participants and how these will eventually impact their leadership skills. For one, they will be given a chance to interact with distinguished pioneers and veterans in the technology sector and learn from them the latest best practices that can help accelerate the adoption of innovative leadership in Sharjah and the UAE as a whole. This international forum will also serve as an effective tool towards pushing the country’s smart transformation efforts by acquiring the needed skills to support such an important transition. Aside from lectures, workshops will be held during the event as well to gain the participants’ insights and ideas. We look forward to optimizing these opportunities for the benefit of our SLP leaders.”

The University of Cambridge is one of the world’s oldest universities and leading academic centers and a self-governed community of scholars. Its reputation for outstanding academic achievement is known worldwide and reflects the intellectual achievement of its students, as well as the world-class original research carried out by the staff of the university and the colleges.

The Sharjah Tatweer Forum was founded in 2005 through an Emiri decree issued by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The forum aims to introduce the most important global and local trends, while reinforcing the role of young leaders and linking ties between the economic sectors in order to improve Sharjah and consolidate its position as a highly competitive emirate.

STF’s framework is based on several concepts, including innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship, and support for novel projects that serve as key tools towards comprehensive development, stimulating community outreach, volunteer work, and Corporate Social Responsibility. The forum also seeks to promote fruitful cooperation with major consulting firms, research centers, and international and local universities to ensure the improvement of future generations in the field of leadership and management
