“Our beloved country, the UAE, pays attention to women and provides them with all the tools that enhance their contribution to the development process. The vision of our wise leadership has helped the UAE pass the stage of women’s empowerment, to empower society through women,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications at Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) and Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee.
“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we thank our wise leadership and all women leaders who have continuously worked to empower women and provide care for families and children across all the emirates. The ‘Mother of the Nation,’ Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, has played a major role in empowering Emirati women and enhancing their creativity. the UAE Gender Balance Council has been established under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women’s Establishment, and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. This is another milestone in women’s empowerment. These efforts crown the UAE’s ongoing efforts since the establishment of the Union. This reflects the major role that Emirati women play in shaping the future.
I also thank DEWA’s leadership for their unlimited support of the Women’s Committee since its inception in 2010. Today, DEWA is one of the leading government departments and organisations to empower women both professionally and socially. DEWA is the largest government organisation to employ women in technical positions within the energy sector in Dubai.
