This has contributed to unprecedented achievements among Emirati women, who have taken well-deserved top positions. Emirati women take part in the development process of all growth sectors that are based on creativity and innovation. These include renewable and clean energy, space research, satellites, and aviation industry technology among others. On International Women’s Day, which this year, focuses on innovative ways to promote gender equality and women empowerment, we cannot but be proud of what the UAE has achieved in this field. Emirati women have become vital in the comprehensive development process,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
“While we highly appreciate the role of women as key and essential elements in the building and developing of society, we emphasise DEWA’s pivotal role in women empowerment. We are committed to providing a positive and motivating work environment that supports women in the workplace and helps them balance their professional and social lives, while providing them with the full confidence to harness their scientific and practical potential as key partners in building the nation. DEWA currently employs 1,934 female employees across all departments. This includes 657 employees in the engineering and technical fields. Emirati women constitute 79% of the total female workforce, contributing to DEWA’s local and global achievements,” added Al Tayer.
