CITYSCAPE GLOBAL AWARDS FOR EMERGING MARKETS CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL EXCELLENCE
Real estate projects from the GCC, South America and Asia have been recognised as best in class at the Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets, announced during a gala dinner on Monday 11 September.
With more than 300 initial submissions received, a total of 44 projects representing local and international projects from 17 countries were shortlisted before the winners were revealed at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai. The winning projects embody the very best in architectural excellence for future and built developments across the globe.
Two UAE projects picked up awards on the night; Developer, Swiss Property, and British architects 10 Design, were awarded the Future Residential – Medium to High Rise category for La Reserve Residences in Dubai, UAE, while fellow UK architectural firm RMJM, and developer DIFC, took home the Future Retail Project Award for Gate Avenue in DIFC, Dubai, UAE.
Eleven categories covering projects in sectors such as Commercial, Leisure & Hospitality, Community, Culture & Tourism, Residential, Retail, and Sustainability were judged by an expert panel made up of 18 experts from companies including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Mace Macro International, and HLM Architects.
VERITAS Design Group, who won the Built Commercial Project for the Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor Headquarters in Malaysia, also nabbed the highly sought after award for sustainability for the same project.
Holley Chant, Executive Director of Corporate Sustainability at KEO International Consultants, and judge for the sustainability category said: “This project exemplifies that sustainable performance can be beautiful. This is a development that demonstrates that environmental sustainability in a physical sense can create a high quality functional asset.”
