On the occasion of the International Day of Happiness, we would like to extend our gratitude to the UAE’s wise leadership: HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Our leaders have always placed our people’s happiness at the forefront of their strategic priorities, and have made the best possible use of all available resources and capabilities to achieve this noble objective through qualitative plans, strategies and initiatives. This has resulted in the UAE being ranked first among the Arab countries according to the World Happiness Index 2016, achieving in a record time what others could not do in decades.
We have learnt from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that people’s happiness and welfare is a matter which cannot be delayed, and that happiness and positivity in the UAE are a lifestyle, a government commitment and a spirit uniting the UAE community. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid once observed: “All government’s policies, programmes and services should contribute towards building a positive and happy community. The government’s mission is to create conditions that are conducive for happiness of individuals, families and employees, and to promote positivity as a core value in the local community.”
Achieving stakeholders’ happiness is the main pillar according to which we developed our Strategic Plan 2021. We have realised the importance of instilling a culture of optimism and positive energy among our stakeholders. This consolidates the elements of happiness among individuals, taking the UAE to new levels of prosperity and global leadership. This is aligned with the UAE Vision 2021 to make the UAE among the best countries in the world, and the Dubai Plan 2021, aiming to create a city of happy, creative and empowered people.
On this momentous of the International Day of Happiness, we emphasise our commitment to support the leadership’s efforts to achieve our people’s happiness and prosperity, and to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. Towards that goal, DEWA has adopted an integrated system that has already improved its happiness results according to most indices, including DEWA’s society happiness which reached 89%, and customer happiness which attained 95.7%, to be among the highest in the world.
