HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a high-level delegation headed by HE Samuel Tan, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE. The delegation included HE Pit Chen Low, Consul General of the Singaporean Consulate in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Nael Islam, Regional Director of International Enterprise Singapore, and Nur Iman Aris, Centre Director of International Enterprise Singapore.
This is one of a series of visits by diplomatic and consular officials to DEWA to explore relations, exchange expertise and promote mutual cooperation. The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence, and Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources.
Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and presented DEWA’s innovative and pioneering initiatives and projects. These projects aim to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which constitute a roadmap for DEWA’s ambitious initiatives and development projects, to promote sustainability, create a community of happiness, and meet the aspirations of Dubai’s citizens and residents. It also achieves DEWA’s vision of becoming a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
Al Tayer also talked about the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 75% of Dubai’s energy from clean sources by 2050, which DEWA has translated into practical strategies. DEWA launched several green programmes and initiatives, notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, with an installed capacity of 5,000MW by 2030. The two parties highlighted the importance of cooperation between DEWA and Singaporean energy organisations, in addition to strengthening cooperation and promoting joint relations.
