HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received Dr Basem Alzahabi, the new President of Al Ghurair University. This is one of several visits by educational and academic institutions to DEWA.
The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence, Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources.
Al Tayer congratulated Alzahabi on his new academic position, and wished him every success. The meeting discussed measures to enhance cooperation between DEWA and Al Ghurair University in Dubai. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s efforts to support the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that education and Emiratisation are two key priorities in the work of the government, and a national responsibility that calls for synergising and integrating all national initiatives to achieve the aspirations of the people of the UAE and ensure their welfare and decent living.
“DEWA’s Emiratisation strategy includes ambitious programmes to train and prepare Emiratis for engineering and technical jobs in power and water. DEWA also provides various scholarships to Emirati students who wish to further their studies in energy. This is part of DEWA’s strategy to Emiratise all first-tier technical roles within the Authority,” said Al Tayer.
DEWA provides its employees with state-of-the-art training programmes, to keep them up to date with the latest developments, and improve their skills and professional performance, which in turn benefits the UAE and its citizens.
