HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) visited the Rashid Centre for the Disabled (RCD). Al Tayer was received by HE Mariam Othman, CEO of RCD, accompanied by the RCD’s administrative and media staff. This coincides with DEWA’s activities to commemorate Martyrs Day on 30 November.
Al Tayer opened a special Arts classroom, and helped the students draw and colour some DEWA-related drawings. They read and took a collective photo together. Also, everyone observed a minute of silence, praying to Allah to bless the souls of the nation’s martyrs. Othman presented to Al Tayer an honorary trophy in appreciation for his continued support for the RCD.
The visit supports DEWA’s strategy to consolidate social responsibility values by a continued focus on giving, solidarity and altruism. DEWA supports charitable and humanitarian institutions to help them achieve their goals.
“For over 20 years, we have supported the RCD, to carry out the vision of HH Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai and the UAE into a hub for humanitarian work and to promote community service. Our annual social strategic plan includes several programmes, where we support charitable and humanitarian activities locally, regionally and globally. These activities constitute an integral part of our mission as a socially-responsible government organisation. We are committed to support all society, including the disabled, by ensuring a healthy environment for them. We aim to provide the community with the key services related to individual well-being, health and education, and all modern life needs as well to make them happy,’ said Al Tayer.
“DEWA works according to a strategy that establishes the foundations of corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well as community and development initiatives and projects that serve society as a whole, including the disabled. Accordingly, DEWA has won the Princess Haya Award for Special Education (PHASE), which has been established by HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DEWA also supports and sponsors the social initiatives and activities of several charitable and humanitarian centres such as the CDA, by sending the disabled children for the Holy Mosque to perform Umrah, and the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre as well. We also help children with autism by collecting donations for Dubai Autism Centre and fostering the new autism building project. As a result of our distinguished achievements, we received the MVO 8000 Certification in Social Responsibility, and a high score in ISO 26000 Guidelines in Social Responsibility. This proves our significant role in achieving Dubai’s sustainable development,” concluded Al Tayer.
