HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inaugurated DEWA’s third Happiness Lounge at its building in Warsan. The lounge aims to create a positive energy and pleasant working environment for DEWA’s staff. Al Tayer was accompanied by Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power at DEWA, and Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
The Happiness Lounge aims to provide a comfortable working environment and a range of services for DEWA’s staff, including electronically booking meetings and hosting various events. It is equipped with the necessary electronic equipment and supplies for a flexible, innovative, and positive work environment, enabling staff to unleash their capabilities and achieve further development in their fields of work.
“When mentioning happiness at DEWA, employee happiness always comes first. We believe that happy and positive employees ensure the happiness of all those dealing with them, inspired by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who once said: ‘It is necessary to ensure employees’ happiness in order that they in turn can bring happiness to others.’ The establishment of a culture of happiness and positivity among stakeholders is one of DEWA’s strategic objectives, and a key component of its mission and corporate values,” said Al Tayer.
“The inauguration of the Happiness Lounge at DEWA’s building in Warsan comes as part of our eagerness to invest in our human resources and promote positivity, creativity, and innovation, based on our belief that our human capabilities are the most important element in achieving success and continuous excellence. This helps us in keeping abreast of developments and rapid changes to continue DEWA’s path of excellence in anticipating and shaping the future as well as launching pioneering projects and initiatives based on a clear and integrated approach that is focussed on innovation, early exploration of opportunities and challenges, analysis, and long-term proactive plans, allowing us to become the government of the future,” added Al Tayer.
“DEWA adopts a rigorous approach in measuring employee happiness, based on annual happiness studies, supervision, and implementation, with regular surveys in cooperation with our Employee Happiness department. These measure employee happiness in various aspects of DEWA’s operations, simultaneously providing staff with the opportunity to express their opinions and suggestions on the topics that concern them. The results of these studies are also used to develop new programmes and initiatives to enhance employee happiness,” concluded Al Tayer.
“DEWA attaches utmost importance to its employee happiness to ensure a positive and stimulating work environment, supporting businesses, increasing productivity, and consolidating DEWA’s efforts in establishing a culture of creativity and innovation among its employees. The new Happiness Lounge in Warsan is DEWA’s third happiness lounge, with the first one opened at its headquarters in 2016 and the second at Al Hudaiba in 2018. DEWA will continue to launch initiatives that support its employees to optimise their work,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
