: All three championship categories will be up for grabs in the fourth and final round of the 2016 Endurance Championship Driven By MINI at Dubai Kartdrome on 16-17 December.

The famous Le Mans style running start will flag off at noon on Friday (16 December) and will go for 24 continuous hours before champions are crowned at noon on Saturday.

Choueiri Group’s CG Racing Pro currently leads the Pro class and it will be keen to return to winning ways. The last Pro championship it won at Dubai Kartdrome was back in 2013 when CG teams claimed a historic treble, winning Pro, Corporate and Nations Cup categories.

This year they are poised to repeat the incredible feat and CG Team Manager Habib Chouery reflected, “Looking ahead to the upcoming final round, all CG Racing teams will be placing in their best performances, to defend their leads and build on their current accomplishments and rankings. Our overall objectives are clearly focused on winning this year’s championship titles and making history once again.”

Standing in CG’s way will be its old rival, Batelco-Drag965 Racing. Over the years Batelco has been a karting juggernaut in the series, racking up no less than four Pro class championships.

Both teams will be looking fretfully over their shoulders for up-and-coming Mach1. The rising star squad will be ready to pounce if the leaders make any mistakes. Globcom-Flame and the all-Russian outfit of LD are also outside contenders hoping to take the frontrunners by surprise.

The reigning champ, Dubai Falcon Racing Team, is currently down in fifth and will need a healthy dose of luck and perseverance in order to defend its title.

In the Corporate category, for teams with drivers employed at the same company, the top three competitors are very close and all of them have a chance to take the championship title.

Again Choueiri Group dominates here, with CG Racing in first and CG Academy in third. Second place Fly Emirates separates the two teams and is looking to spoil the CG party. IUM Racing will be seeking to jump from fourth up to a podium finish.

In the Nations Cup, for teams with drivers of all one nationality, the Russian crew of LD leads the standings and will be hoping to claim its first title ever. The Indian team ENOC-NH 8 and CG Racing of Lebanon both have experienced racing pedigrees and will be looking to topple the Russian squad.

All-Emirati MINI Dubai, the defending champion, is down in fourth and will need a stellar performance to retain the Nations Cup this weekend.

After an entire year so many teams have so much to gain and so much to lose in just one race; it will take a gruelling 24 hours of endurance kart racing to sort out the champions from the would-be contenders.

Dubai Kartdrome Manager Ryan Trutch commented, “As we head into the last race of 2016, I anticipate a very close race with CG and Batelco. The kart rotation system that was introduced this year has really levelled performances across the field.”

“We look forward to reintroducing the various different track configurations next year to spice things up again and, as always, we thank our sponsor MINI for supporting throughout another fabulous season.” Trutch added.
