DEWA Women’s Committee organises free check-ups as Golden Sponsor of 7th Pink Caravan Ride

As part of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) efforts to contribute to the community and raise awareness on women health issues, DEWA Women’s Committee organised at DEWA main office an open day for DEWA’s female employees, to have a free check-ups for breast cancer disease, in collaboration with the 7th Pink Caravan Ride. DEWA is participating as a Golden Sponsor in this initiative.
“Our sponsorship of the 7th Pink Caravan Ride adheres to the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support women and meet their needs. This reflects our commitment to the community, while providing a healthy and safe environment by educating our female employees on health-related issues. The initiative also supports DEWA’s efforts to spread knowledge and awareness among different segments of society, to achieve the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021, to make Dubai the home of intellectual, well-educated, and healthy individuals,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA has launched a number of programmes and initiatives to promote health among women. We continuously works to empower and support our female staff based on a comprehensive vision to ensure development and growth in all areas. DEWA ensures that all requirements of female employees are met, in a secure and stable environment, to enhance their abilities, and to ensure their happiness and empowerment on both professional and personal levels,” added Al Tayer.
Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications, and Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee, noted the support which the Committee gives to initiatives that cover the areas of physical and mental health in female employees.
DEWA Women’s Committee builds bridges of communication and cooperation with other government entities, to promote the social and cultural aspects of women’s health, while supporting families and the community. Al Mehairi also noted that DEWA’s sponsorship of such initiatives supports its strategy to support the professional and social lives of women.
60 female employees participated in the event, undergoing check-ups, and benefitting from advice regarding the misconceptions of breast cancer, its causes, and ways to prevent it.
The 7th Pink Caravan Ride was held under the theme ‘Seven Years for Seven Emirates,’ and was successful in raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection of breast cancer, which is one of the most common cancers to occur worldwide.
