Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) supported the Zayed Iftar initiative, organised by Rashid Centre for People of Determination, to provide Iftar meals throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan for the Centre’s students, and support orphans and people in need registered with the centre. DEWA’s support also included the distribution of Ramadan subsidies to 50 families with children of determination, especially the orphans and families with limited income. This is part of DEWA’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility and efforts to consolidate the values of giving during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in line with the objectives of the Year of Zayed. This also supports DEWA’s strategy to support and integrate people of determination in society.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stressed DEWA’s commitment to support the Rashid Centre for People of Determination, based on its belief in the great role played by the Centre to support people of determination, provide treatment and education, and develop their abilities to help them interact positively with other members of the family or community.
“DEWA’s sponsorship of Iftar Zayed throughout Ramadan and distributing Ramadan support to families in need during Zayed Humanitarian Day, which annually coincides with 19 Ramadan, in cooperation with the Rashid Centre for People of Determination, is part of our strategy to promote charity and humanitarian work during the Year of Zayed. It consolidates the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in philanthropy and generosity in Emirati society by launching and supporting initiatives that reflect his values and vision,” said Al Tayer.
“DEWA seeks to support the National Policy to Empower People of Determination, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create an inclusive society that ensures empowerment and a decent life for people of determination and their families. It also works to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 to preserve a cohesive society that is proud of its identity and sense of belonging, by providing a comprehensive environment that integrates all segments of society. DEWA’s efforts have contributed to raising society happiness about DEWA’s role as an organisation that supports people of determination from 87% in 2013, to 94.3% in 2017. DEWA also received the People of Determination Friendly Government Entity award, at the 21st Dubai Government Excellence Program 2018, “added Al Tayer.
