DEWA strengthens cooperation with ABB Group

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a senior delegation from Swiss company ABB, one of a series of visits by global prominent companies to DEWA. The delegation included Frank Duggan, President of Europe region and Member of the Group Executive Committee; Mostafa Al Guezeri, Managing Director in the UAE and Gulf countries; and Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Executive Vice President – Strategic Partners at ABB. Also present was Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence at DEWA.

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and highlighted DEWA’s most important programmes, projects, and initiatives that support the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that aims to promote sustainable development in the Emirate and provide 75% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2050 through the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050

The MD & CEO talked about DEWA’s work to set up an infrastructure for electricity and water services in Dubai, in accordance with the highest international standards, for electricity generation, and water production, transmission and distribution. He noted that DEWA provides its services as per the highest standards of availability, reliability, and efficiency to achieve the happiness of all customers, partners, and stakeholders.

Al Tayer noted DEWA’s efforts in supporting the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. This is being done through Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA, which has adopted a pioneering model for utilities based on innovation in renewable energy, energy storage, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital services first digital utility to use autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage.

The ABB delegation briefed Al Tayer on the services ABB offers in the UAE and Dubai, and expressed interest in participating in DEWA’s projects, stressing the importance of exchanging best international practices and experiences
