Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised the second workshop of the ExO Sprint programme, to explore new water and electricity technologies in collaboration with ExO Works. The 10-week ExO Sprint programme aims to enhance DEWA’s role in shaping the future of energy and water. It also supports DEWA’s role as an incubator of creativity and innovation to achieve its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
The workshop was attended by a number of DEWA’s senior officials and board members, in addition to a number of experts from ExO-Works. The workshop addressed important issues in the energy and water sectors, and identified replacement techniques for developing disruptive technologies, and adopting long-term plans to deal with the world’s fourth industrial revolution. Participants from DEWA reviewed their projects and exchanged experiences, opinions, and observations with experts from ExO Works.
“DEWA’s efforts in innovation support the efforts of the wise leadership to shape the future and prepare for change, to keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution. The wise leadership has launched an integrated strategy for the UAE that gives priority to shaping the future, identifying priorities, and formulating policies. A culture of innovation has been instilled in the community and the government of the UAE. The National Innovation Strategy, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is considered an effective tool in the dissemination of a culture of innovation in all segments of society with the aim of making the UAE one of the most innovative nations in the world within seven years,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“The ExO Sprint programme encourages innovation as a key driver for development across all areas of work. This will become evident in service provision, project implementation, increasing the efficiency of procedures, and keeping pace with rapid technological developments. Innovation also enhances the role of Emiratis in generating creative ideas that contribute to finding innovative ways to provide services that achieve customer happiness,” added Al Tayer.
DEWA harnesses a culture of innovation to develop services, initiatives, strategies, and action plans. DEWA has adopted strategic innovation as one of five major pillars of its Strategic Plan 2021 and to raise its importance as a theme to encompass 40% of its strategic map.
