HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has confirmed that DEWA has made significant progress on the supply, extension and commissioning of 25km of major water transmission pipelines across various parts of Dubai. This supports DEWA’s strategy to enable the comprehensive development of electricity and water for the Dubai Plan 2021, and achieve customer expectations by delivering the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency.
“We strive to increase production and operational efficiencies, and increase the flow of water to meet the rapid growth in water, in several parts of Dubai, and anticipate emergencies. The project includes the extension of GRE (Glass-Reinforced Epoxy) main water pipelines, and remote control and monitoring systems. Approximately 22 km has been implemented to date, 88% of the project, which is worth AED 170 million. The project includes 17 sites to connect the main transmission pipelines, to increase water flow, ensure the continuity of water access, and raise the pressure in the network to support existing and future projects in those areas, thereby contributing to the efficiency of the network,” said Al Tayer.
“The project is expected to be complete by December 2017,” added Al Tayer.
