Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating in the 5th Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), from 2-4 April 2017 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is organised under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme ‘National Governments… Global Achievements’.
DIGAE is organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Program under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai. DEWA’s participation in DIGAE supports its commitment to exchanging expertise and best practices in all aspects of government work.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his appreciation to DIGAE organisers. “The achievements made by the Dubai Government are truly global achievements thanks to the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who instructed Dubai government organisations to implement today, what cities around the world will implement after 10 years. The DIGAE has become a platform to promote government excellence. It provides government organisations with the opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices in service provision, and highlights the efforts of Dubai Government to ensure a happier and more prosperous life for everyone living in Dubai. It also provides a platform for a dialogue between the government and citizens and residents, while innovating ways to make them happier,” said Al Tayer.
“DEWA’s participation in the fifth DIGAE is aligned with its three themes of happiness, innovation, and shaping the future. DEWA works to achieve the Smart Dubai initiative, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world, and his instructions to the government to make people happy. It also follows the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to combine government efforts to transform Dubai into a world-class city. This also supports DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,” added Al Tayer.
At DIGAE 2017, DEWA is highlighting a number of its key projects and initiatives. These include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, and the Hassyan clean coal power plant. It is also promoting its three smart initiatives: Shams Dubai to connect solar energy to houses and buildings; its smart applications through smart meters and grids; and the Green Charger to build the infrastructure and electric vehicle charging stations. DEWA is also displaying its initiatives that support the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan, which includes building the first hydroelectric power station in the GCC, with a capacity of 250MW. DEWA is also displaying the Solar Decathlon Middle East which is held for the first time in the Middle East and Africa; and the model of its new headquarters called Al-Sheraa (sail in Arabic). It will be the tallest, largest, and smartest government net Zero Energy Building (ZEB) in the world.
At its stand number (DIGAE-B-4) at the International Government Achievements Exhibition, which is held from 2-4 April 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, DEWA provides an interactive platform for the visitors. DEWA’s participation will feature discussion sessions, lectures, and workshops by a number of specialists, experts, and public and media figures. Topics include Innovation, Youth and Digital Media, Year of Giving, and Happiness. DEWA will also organise competitions on its social media channels where winner will be rewarded at its stand at the exhibition.
