Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently honoured the partners, sponsors, and supporting organisations of the 19th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2017), at a gala dinner held yesterday at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai. WETEX 2017, which is organised by DEWA, from October 23 to October 25 2017 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) comes under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA.
The gala event was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and the Founder and Chairman of WETEX, senior officials at DEWA, a number of dignitaries, decision makers, senior public and private officials, media partners, in addition to representatives of the sponsoring and supporting bodies, and exhibitors of the exhibition.
In his speech, HE Al Tayer expressed his appreciation for the efforts of partners from the public and private sectors, sponsors and supporting organisations from all over the world. He also hailed the role of the media in supporting the vision and mission of the exhibition, saying: “I am honoured to welcome you all as we celebrate a long journey full of achievements and success over the last 19 years now, during which we’ve succeeded in joining up and consolidating global efforts to capitalise on innovations and technological advancements in the water and electricity sectors, promoting environmental safety and driving regional and global sustainability. Today, we celebrate together the success of the 19th WETEX, which is being organised by DEWA under the umbrella of the 4th Green Week, in conjunction with the 2nd Dubai Solar Show and the 4th World Green Economy Summit 2017.”
Al Tayer also stressed that WETEX has been able to achieve this great success regionally and globally due to the continuous efforts between DEWA and its partners, sponsors and exhibitors, which is a sign of the commitment of Dubai and the UAE to support the transformation towards a green economy and attain sustainable development. “There is no doubt that our success in positioning WETEX at the top on the world map did not come from nowhere, but is rather the result of our hard work and continuous efforts to support green technologies and solutions for nearly two decades. We are proud of the leading status of WETEX as an important platform for green solutions, a highly anticipated event for organisations to promote their products and display the latest technologies, and a meeting place for specialists interested in exchanging best global practices in the areas of energy and water as well as the green economy.”
Al Tayer noted that the 19th WETEX has drawn the participation of over 2,000 exhibitors from 50 countries, and more than 75 sponsors, with an estimated 30,000 visitors over three days. Due to the continuous and increasing demand for participation in the exhibition, the surface area was expanded to over 70,000 square metres.
“I would like to thank you all for your valuable efforts, support and continuous sponsorship of WETEX. At DEWA, we are proud of your valuable partnership in strengthening the exhibition regionally and globally. We reaffirm our commitment to closer cooperation with partners, sponsors and exhibitors to further explore new horizons, innovative solutions and new technologies that support the building of a better, safer, sustainable and brighter future for current and future generations,” Al Tayer concluded.
