DEWA honours outstanding scholarship programme students in local and foreign universities

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), honoured a group of high-scoring students enrolled Masters and Doctoral studies in local and foreign universities. Honouring the students supports DEWA’s efforts to encourage innovators and high-performers, and its efforts to develop talented Emiratis.
The event was attended by Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, who commended the students on their efforts and excellence, wishing them further success to contribute towards DEWA achieving its objectives.
Al Tayer highlighted the importance of DEWA’s scholarship programme for Emirati students. The programme’s students will take the country’s energy sector to the next level of growth and progress. They are examples of a generation that recognise the significance of vocational work and the importance of joining a scientific programme that provides them with world-class skills, and qualifies them to play a positive role at work, and to be competitive in the job market.
“Developing potential is one of the most important elements to keep national staff. DEWA launched scholarships for its Emirati employees in different required specialties. We have adopted a clear strategy in developing and training UAE nationals by providing appropriate skills as per the needs of DEWA.
We are the leading government department to launch various training programmes for our national students wishing to complete their studies within and outside the country in various areas of energy. DEWA’s scholarship programmes in some of the best universities in the UAE and abroad, have proved to be significant in enhancing academic performance and professional excellence. This in turn, supports our strategy to enhance Emiratisation by developing and supporting talented Emiratis and prepare them to take leadership,” said Al Tayer.
The students being honoured were Yousef Mohammed Al Khazraji, who achieved an outstanding GPA in Business Management at Sharjah University, Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Shared, who achieve excellent results in Business at the University of Queensland in Austrailia, Ahmed Al Jaberi, who also achieved excellent results in Maintenance Management from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, Daoud Al Ali, who received his PhD in Improvising Efficiency of Electricity and Energy Storage Management, from Cardiff University in the UK.
“DEWA develops the skills and capabilities of Emirati youth while encouraging their innovation and excellence. This prepares them to help achieve DEWA’s vision and strategies, and transforming Dubai into the smartest city in the world. DEWA’s Emiratisation strategy prepares and trains both male and female Emirati students,” said Al Akraf, commending the efforts of employees enrolled in DEWA’s scholarships.
