DEWA employees participate in XDubai Spartan Race for second consecutive year

50 employees from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in the XDubai Spartan Race which was organised in Hatta Bike Trail Centre, Dubai. The Spartan Race is one of the most popular endurance races in the world. DEWA’s participation in the race is part of its commitment to encourage its staff to engage in physical activities and participate in sporting events.
The XDubai Spartan races included the 5+ km Spartan Sprint with 20+ obstacles for athletes of different levels, and the 13+ km Super Race, with 25+ obstacles, in addition to the Spartan Kids’ race.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended the organisers of XDubai Spartan Race in Hatta for conducting the event for the second consecutive year, as Hatta is characterised by its unique geography and tourist attractions. The race also coincides with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which was launched by HH Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.

Al Tayer applauded the DEWA staff who took part in the race, emphasising the importance of such sporting activities in developing the physical and mental capabilities of the participants. He emphasised DEWA’s commitment to actively participate in various sports activities and events in line with the directives of the wise leadership to ensure that sports become part of the UAE culture, noting that the sports tournaments and competitions that are organised in Dubai affirm the importance of sports in establishing a healthy community, consolidating Dubai’s journey to become the most active city in the world.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources and Chairman of the Sports Committee at DEWA, noted that DEWA’s management is committed to providing a work environment that balances its employees’ professional and social lives, and encourages them to participate in various sports tournaments, as well as ensure that physical activities become an essential part of their daily lives because of the positive impact on them and the working environment.
