Amity University in Dubai has awarded HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), with an honorary doctorate in appreciation of his continuing innovative efforts to achieve excellence and enhance scientific knowledge and sustainability. The doctorate was awarded at a graduation ceremony held in the University’s campus in Dubai International Academic City.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer received the honorary doctorate from Ashok Chauhan, Founder and President of the Amity Group, in front of Dr Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, the Academic Staff of the University and the graduating batch of students. The event was attended by HE Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and HE Dr Raga Essa Al Gurg, Chairperson of the Al Jalila Foundation, Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City.

It’s my pleasure to address all staff and students, to help further drive awareness about the significance of a knowledge economy in the UAE and Dubai in particular. DEWA is committed to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, outlined in the Dubai Plan 2021 for Dubai to be a city of happy, creative and empowered people, with educated, cultured and healthy individuals who help keep the Emirate’s resources highly sustainable,” said Al Tayer.
“For over five decades, DEWA has contributed to the social, economic, and environmental growth of Dubai. This was achieved by several prominent initiatives and programmes in social development, which has contributed to the leading position DEWA enjoys today.
