As part of efforts to train the youth, and develop their abilities to actively contribute towards achieving sustainable development, 15 young and talented employees of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), completed the Future Energy Leaders Excellence Programme (FELEP), launched by DEWA in collaboration with RWE (Innogy).
The programme included a three week training course, to develop social and conceptual skills, and content analysis, information and tools to support the development of participants, while developing their skills and preparing them to become the next generation of young leaders. At the end of the programme, participants were split into groups to prepare a presentation featuring their new ideas, and business issues concerning DEWA’s future planning. Participants were able to demonstrate their skills gained over the duration of the course, and how to apply these skills to improve the work environment.
“DEWA’s vision is inspired by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to involve the youth in the development process, as the future of the UAE’s development is based on core values, led by the youth. DEWA believes that the youth are the driving force behind creating a brighter future. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders and the cornerstone of the sustainable development adopted by our wise leadership.
DEWA strives to actively participate in initiatives involving the youth, both in DEWA, and in society in general, to achieve the Dubai Plan 2021, to transform Dubai into a city of happy, creative, and empowered people,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“As part of our firm belief that the Emirati youth possess the required skills that will contribute towards achieving DEWA’s vision and help transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world, we provide training and scholarship programmes, to develop a generation that realises the role of professional work in achieving sustainable development. DEWA trains and develops UAE citizens to take responsibility of different leadership positions. Dewa regularly organises programmes and specialised workshops to train and prepare staff to be future leaders. DEWA is committed to developing the skills and knowledge of its staff, and keep them updated in all areas, particularly in leadership, excellence, and technical and technological fields,” added Al Tayer.

To achieve this, we launch comprehensive training and developing programmes for our staff. We harness creativity and excellence in our daily work to improve performance, efficiency, and services to the highest level, at the local, regional, and global levels.
