Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced its sponsorship of the 6th Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Tournament, which is organised by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The tournament is held during the Holy Month of Ramadan under the theme ‘Unlimited Abilities’. DEWA is the strategic partner of NAS, which is the biggest of its kind with respect to its various sports games and value of prizes. DEWA’s sponsorship of the sports tournament is part of its efforts to consolidate and encourage a culture of sports in society. “We are delighted to once again be sponsoring NAS Sports Tournament to support the directives of the wise leadership to make sports a part of the UAE culture, and encourage positive competition among teams and individuals. In line with our Corporate Social Responsibility, we support various sports activities and events that encourage members of society to exercise and motivate them to make physical activities an essential component of their daily lives. We recognise the importance of sports in promoting a healthy and vibrant lifestyle as well as enhancing the cultural harmony among all people of society in the UAE,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. “The NAS Sports Tournament has become an important event for athletes of all ages and is distinguished with the best players and elite sports stars. We are pleased that this year’s tournament also focuses on people of determination by organising many competitions and sports activities for them. This supports Dubai’s efforts to become a friendly city for people of determination and create an environment that allows them to unleash their capabilities and potential,” added Al Tayer. This year’s NAS Sports Tournament will be held from May 17 to June 8 2018 and will include 11 sports competitions. Over 5,000 men and women athletes compete for titles and prizes worth over AED 6 million.
