Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the platinum sponsor of the 21st Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award, which runs from 1—20 Ramadan, at the amphitheatre of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This is part of DEWA’s social responsibility to sponsor cultural, religious and social events that have a great impact on the establishment of higher values and humanitarian principles within society. The award is hosting a group of Islamic scholars and preachers who highlight a civilized image of the true Islamic religion as moderate, tolerant, and believes in coexistence with different cultures, religions and civilizations.
“We are proud to sponsor this year the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award, which takes place during Ramadan, due to its great value and importance in urging Muslim communities around the world to read, memorise and recite the Qur’an, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan. We also support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to instil the best values and social behaviour encouraged by Islam. We are keen on being a constant partner in motivating the next generation to adhere to their religion, and to realise their duties to their faith and mission, and to create a spirit of competition in memorising the Holy Qur’an and recognising outstanding reciters, while promoting the UAE’s role in serving and supporting Islamic values,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“We appreciate the efforts of the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award’s organisers in paying special tribute to the distinguished personalities and organisations who serve Islam around the world, supporting the talents of reciters from all over the world, and its excellence in the service of the Holy Qur’an and its teachings. Our sponsorship of this international event is part of our social responsibility and our continuous efforts to support social, cultural, and Islamic initiatives that strengthen Dubai’s position as a global cultural and humanitarian destination,” added Al Tayer.
The event will host 500 people a day; which is around 10,000 people over the 20 days. Since its establishment in Ramadan 1419 (December 1998), the Award has achieved distinguished involvement and attention from many segments of society, regionally and internationally.
